Mitchell Rotary Rig #9 was renovated in 2015 to bring the equipment up to date with a reach of 9,000 feet (2.7 km) total vertical depth (TVD). The draw works are outfitted with an automatic transmission to help with tripping times as well as to better control rotary table rpms and the higher torque with Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) bits. Rotary Rig #9 has a standard 4 foot (1.2 m) substructure with an option for a 12 foot (3.7 m) substructure for full stack blowout preventer (BOP) equipment. Rig #9 can be outfitted with 500 hp to 1,005 hp triplex pumps with transmissions for greater pumping capabilities. Rig #9 also has a 800 Bbl steel pit option that can be exercised.
